1. diverSity - It is diversity that makes us what we are. It is what we face, what we are made of, what we depend on and what gives us the ability to be the kind of group we are.
2. Strife - Whether from outside our group, from our bros inside the group, or from inside ourselves, no Saracen has ever NOT faced strife. Usually MORE often than LESS. It is strife that shows us what we are made of as a company OR a tribe, or even as an individual. We take a LOT of crap, but inside our METTLE is made of stainless steel, and crap washes right off, if you remember that.
3. Singularity - Each Saracen is this, each tribe, and each kingdom area, and that is what makes us a UNIQUE company in Amtgard. We are singularly the ONLY company in amtgard that EVERYONE has heard of, whether good or bad, and whether they want to admit it, the ones who are ALWAYS keeping this game alive even when we seem to HATE each other. As far as I know, we are the only ones that have our own national charter. Any other company/household/whatever able to make claims like that? None to my knowledge. I could be wrong, and other companies will ALWAYS claim they are better than we. I just don't see it. When you pare us down in this fashion, it brings us to ...
4. Simplicity - Saracens ARE simple when you look at it. Each Saracen is driven by simple, easy to understand desires. You wouldn't have joined a company if you weren't looking for some simple comradeship, brothers-in-arms, fun, and people to hang out with. Shy of this, the Common Saracen is self reliant, capable, crafty, and all around more able to cope with BEING an anomaly amongst other amtgarders, simply showing the stuff red and black is made of EVEN WHEN YOU ARE THE ONLY ONE WEARING IT. Commonly, the Saracen finds that he or she faces the same things in mundania. Eventually, we all find, or make more bros and sis' that are looking for the same simple things. And we have a national comradeship to rely on when we can't find anyone in our own area. (I will make an example of myself here. My own best friend is NOT a Saracen, nor may ever be, but I always will be. When I need a Saracen, tho, I only have to look as far as a shout out on this list and ALL of you come running. Heh. My family is HUGE, even when I don't always see it.)
5. Serenity - A Saracen can always find serenity, if he/she is thinking about what I've laid down here so far, or is only willing to be happy with one's self. Peace of mind can come with contentment of KNOWING we are all the things I've spoken of, and SO MUCH more. Simple. And complex. Singular. And diverse. Alone OR associated, we ARE Saracen. A person, a nation. And all the things in between. When you realize this, all the bullshit, even the back-stabbing and turn-coating just slides off our shiny, stainless steel METTLE asses. (Thanks, Bender. I think he should be a Saracen, don't you?)

6. Strength - need I say more? The strength to face diversity, complexity, bullshit, and wade through it all in my hip-high waders of shit-slogging to get to the cool drink one of my bros/sis' is offering me, just cuz I AM a Saracen brother carrying it when they can't, and offering THEM the cool drink cuz THEY do it when *I* can't.
Yes, there will be some that can't hack it and they will leave us, but that just leaves the rest of us better for knowing what we are and what they can't/won't aspire to. Shows they don't want to learn, or grow. As Kibbs signs in almost ALL her posts, What doesn't kill us only makes us stronger. Which brings me to ...
7. Self - Put all of the above things together and you can boil it down to one thing, your SELF. When all else fails a Saracen is always able to rely on self, knowing that other bros and sis' are out there facing the same things, going through the same crap. And eventually, if you are strong enough in yourself, you will make the Saracens what you joined them for in the first place. Whether it is just your park, or the nation as a whole. And as I've heard many Saracens say, I WILL BE the Saracens even if I find myself alone and outnumbered. I CAN because I am Strong, Serene, Simple, Singular, I Strive, and I diverSify. I am Saracen. I am full of shit. I am also full of camaraderie and I LOVE THIS COMPANY, which can either be of a single mind, or have many complex and varied ideas about a simple subject. That is the beauty of this company. And we will survive it all, even if *I* am the only survivor.
